Here are some of my plans for this year and I assume that some of you might be interested.
New technical book writing
If you are following my news and updates you might already know that a couple of months ago I signed a contract with Packt publishing to write a new book titled “Android App development with Maven”. It’s expected to be released as an ebook around Feb and pbook no later than April.
Android Application Development with Maven is intended for android developers or dev-ops engineers who want to use Maven to manage the development life cycle of their android applications . Whether you are already using maven or another build tool, this book will get you up and running very quickly as it focuses only to the maven topics that are related to android development hiding deep technical details that are not relevant to mobile apps. It would be nice, but not necessary, if you have some previous experience with Maven. As soon as the page in Packt will be ready I will posted in softwaregarden.io with more details about book contents.
Unfortunately, that was the reason why I postponed the writing of “The Art of Software Gardening”, but as soon it finishes I will jump back to my favorite topic 🙂
Mastering Continuous Inspection with SonarQube is now a well established workshop with hundreds of participants in several countries the last couple of years. 2015 version will be drastically improved covering new ideas, practices, experiences and of course the latest trends in code quality and SonarQube. First stop is one day before Riga Dev Day at Jan 21st. It will be the second time I will visit Latvia and I’m really looking forward to meeting some old friends.
Writing a new book always creates new opportunities and having workshops is clearly one of them. I’m very happy to announce a new collaboration with MozaicWorks and the first events of my new workshop “Android Development with Maven” based on the forthcoming book. The workshop is planned currently only for two cities in Romania (now that’s a country I never visited ) but I’m pretty sure that we will expand it in more countries.
Conferences and talks
In 2014 I had the chance to talk in 4 different countries and events , all of them about SonarQube and code quality. New year seems to be more interesting as I will keep talking about my first and eternal love ( yeah, that’s SonarQube ) but I will add some more topics to my agenda, like ehm… Software Gardening, Android , and a little surprise : Productivity in development teams (co-located or remote) . You can view the complete list of events and conferences I will participate here (jDays, ITAKE Unconference just to mention a few) but stay tuned for more to come 🙂
One thing is sure. New challenges are waiting for just around the corner and I can’t wait to meet them 🙂
